AliExpress has reportedly rented warehouses near Ben-Gurion Airport for an Israeli quick delivery pilot program, according to an informal publication by a consumer group.
The expansion of the Chinese e-commerce giant in Israel was reported on the Website ALIBUY, whose Israeli manager, Yaniv Porat, wrote “AliExpress considers Israel an important market, and they want to reduce the costs there and shorten delivery times. They’ve made similar moves in other strategic countries like Russia, the U.S., Spain and Brazil.”
According to its website, the company has also introduced a pilot program in which dozens of products are categorized as “sent to Israel from Israel” and can be shipped within three to seven days, though the range of products in this category is limited.
Until now, AliExpress’ shipping costs from Israel varied, with free shipping for some products and costs exceeding 20 shekels ($6) for others.
Neither AliExpress nor Airport City near Ben-Gurion Airport have officially confirmed the opening of the warehouses yet.
