SpaceX will try to launch Israeli communication satellite Amos-17 into circuit from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Tuesday dusk (early Wednesday, Israel time), after a suspected engine error behind a take-off.
Communication association Spacecom, a Ramat Gan-based user of a AMOS or “Affordable Modular Optimized Satellite” series, told a Tel Aviv Stock Exchange on Monday that a launch had been rescheduled for late Tuesday, tentative final authorizations.
The satellite launch was essentially scheduled for Sunday dusk (local time), though deferred after a “suspect valve” was identified in one of a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle’s engines.
“As told by launch association SpaceX after an additional exam of a launch site was successfully executed, a launch of a Amos-17 satellite has been scheduled for a early morning (Israel time) of Aug 7, 2019, theme to final capitulation from launch site authorities,” a association said.
Once operational, Spacecom says Amos-17 will be a many modernized high-throughput satellite to yield communication services to sub-Saharan Africa. The satellite also offers coverage for flourishing satellite use markets in a Middle East and Europe.
“Static glow exam of Falcon 9 complete,” SpaceX tweeted on Sunday. “[The] group is now operative toward Aug 6 for launch of AMOS-17 from Pad 40 in Florida, tentative Range availability.”
The reusable Falcon 9 launch vehicle, designed and made by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is a two-stage rocket for a ride of satellites and other blurb payloads into orbit.
The launch car upholder scheduled to broach Amos-17 has formerly flown in support of Canadian communication association Telesat’s Telstar 19V satellite in Jul 2018 and Japanese-built Qatari satellite Es’hail-2 in Nov 2018.
While a customary satellite launch on-board Falcon 9 is labelled during $62 million, SpaceX is providing a launch during no cost to Spacecom after a company’s $200m. Amos-6 satellite, leased by Facebook, was broken in an blast during a launch exam during Cape Canaveral in Sep 2016.
SpaceX after reliable that a blast was approaching due to a crack in a helium complement of a Falcon 9’s second theatre glass oxygen tank, heading to a burning and mortal ignition of a launch car and a cargo.
In Sep 2018, a Science and Technology Ministry pronounced it would finance a growth and construction of a new Israeli-built communication satellite: a Amos-8.
The satellite, that will be built and designed wholly in Israel by Israel Aerospace Industries, will be a seventh in a array of Israeli communications satellites, with all though one grown by IAI.
Contact was mislaid with Amos-5, grown by Russian association Reshetnev, in Nov 2015. The latest satellite is approaching to be built within 4 years.
The initial satellite in a series, AMOS-1, was launched in 1996, essentially for home radio transmissions. The lifetime of existent satellites is 15-20 years.
