Every few years, the supposed crisis over growing yerida – emigration from Israel – wells up in the media and among politicians. It surfaced in 2014 over the high price of Milky chocolate pudding at home versus the equivalent enjoyed by Israelis living in Berlin, and again in 2023 amid the outcry over the judicial overhaul and later over the trauma of October 7 and the Gaza war.
