Israel invests $4 million for Arabs in high-tech
The Investments Authority of Israel’s Economy Ministry is allocating 13 million shekels ($3.9 million) to incentivize employers to hire students or fresh graduates who are Israeli Arab, Druze, Bedouin or Circassian in high-tech.
The track is open this year for the first time to engineers, too. The assistance is a maximum 115,000 shekels per worker, and participation in the cost of wages will cover a period of up to 18 months.
The state will pay up to 40% of the salary costs per worker; the gross salary must be a minimum of 6,890 shekels per month.
It is open to businesses across the country engaged in high-tech or advanced services like medical technology, electronic parts, electronic communications, industrial equipment, medical equipment and science equipment, chemicals and chemical products, machinery and equipment, as well as computing services.
The number of Israeli Arab students majoring in computer science, math, computer engineering and electronics rose this past academic year to 4,534, a 68% increase since the 2015/16 academic year.
