BEIRUT – Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Tuesday called on leaders to assume their shortcoming in safeguarding a country’s fortitude and confidence after a domestic quarrel involving his son-in-law triggered travel protests.
Supporters of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, a prolonged time domestic counter of Aoun, set fervent tires and blocked roads on Monday in criticism opposite comments done by Aoun’s son-in-law, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil who had called him “a thug”.
In one incident, gunfire erupted nearby offices of Aoun’s Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) easterly of Beirut. The FPM and Berri’s Amal transformation traded censure over a incident.
“What happened on a belligerent is a large mistake formed on (a previous) mistake,” Aoun pronounced in a statement.
