Trump to forewarn Congress in ‘near future’ he will cancel NAFTA
ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE – US President Donald Trump pronounced on Saturday he will give grave notice to a US Congress in a nearby destiny to cancel a North American Free Trade Agreement, giving 6 months for lawmakers to approve a new trade understanding sealed on Friday.
“I will be rigourously terminating NAFTA shortly,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on his approach home from Argentina.
“Just so we understand, when we do that — if for any reason we’re incompetent to make a understanding since of Congress afterwards Congress will have a choice” of a new understanding or returning to trade manners from before 1994 when NAFTA took effect, he said.
Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto sealed a new trade agreement on Friday famous as a United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.
The pierce comes amid some doubt from Democrats about a new trade deal.
