Arsenal’s Brazilian soccer star Gabriel Martinelli got an unexpected assist with his Passover shopping this year.
According to a report doing the rounds among Jewish supporters of the north London club, Martinelli recently won a £100 ($125) voucher to the UK kosher supermarket chain Sheffa Mehadrin.
Reports say an enterprising student from the Shalom Noam primary school in the Edgware neighborhood was selling raffle tickets on the road where Martinelli lives and convinced the Brazilian winger to buy a ticket.
Martinelli then emerged as the surprise winner of the £100 first prize.
The player, it bears noting, is not Jewish, but he’ll hopefully enjoy his kosher shopping regardless.
Martinelli is doubtlessly hoping this signifies many further wins, with his team, currently placed first in the Premier League, aiming for a first title since 2003.
Huge congrats to @gabimartinelli
