On Tuesday morning, the Israeli military launched a naval assault on the southern Yemeni city of Hodeidah, marking an escalation in its ongoing confrontation with the Ansarallah group.
The attack came just hours after Israel issued evacuation orders for three Yemeni ports—Ras Isa, Hodeidah, and Salif—citing reports of a missile launched from Yemen toward Israel that reportedly failed to reach Israeli airspace.
According to Yemeni media, the Israeli navy struck the docks of Hodeidah port with two airstrikes. No casualties have been reported so far.
Israel confirmed its forces carried out the strike, noting that this was the first time its navy had been used in the Yemen campaign, which until now relied primarily on airpower.
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that missile ships targeted the Hodeidah port in retaliation for recent drone and surface-to-surface missile attacks on Israel.

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz praised the assault, calling it a “successful” naval operation. He warned that Israel’s “long arm, in the air and at sea, will reach everywhere,” and threatened further retaliation and a possible naval blockade if attacks from Yemen continue.
Tuesday’s attack is Israel’s tenth strike on Yemen since the beginning of its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, and the fourth since resuming military operations on March 18 after a roughly 60-day truce.
Israeli airstrikes have consistently targeted infrastructure across Yemen, including cement factories, power plants, seaports, and Sana’a airport—sites that have been hit multiple times throughout the campaign.

Despite Israeli efforts, rocket fire from Yemen into central Israel continues, prompting several international airlines to suspend flights to Tel Aviv.
Ansarallah officials reiterated their commitment to military operations against Israel, stating that they will persist until Israel ends what they describe as a 20-month-long war of extermination against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
