  • April 12, 2021

The annual International Writers Festival returns to Jerusalem’s Mishkenot Shaananim May 3-6, with in-person and digital events for its ninth iteration, organizers said.

International writers Salman Rushdie, Jonathan Safran Foer, Harlen Coben, Vanessa Springora, Avni Doshi, Linn Ulman, and Emmanuel Moses are participating in this year’s festival, along with local authors David Grossman, Etgar Keret, Meir Shalev, Zeruya Shalev, Eshkol Nevo, Michal Govrin and others.

Among the in-person events are a literary and music performance with Keret and actor-musician Shuli Rand, and a conversation between cousins and writers Meir Shalev and Zeruya Shalev.

Also on offer will be a series of literary picnics as well as literary tours around Jerusalem, and writing workshops and podcasts.

One of the headlining events is about the publishing industry during the pandemic, with Madeline McIntosh, CEO of Penguin Random House, Gray Tan of the Grayhawk Agency, and Michael Cader of Publisher’s Marketplace.

A full schedule and information about tickets and links to online events is available at the Mishkenot Sha’ananim festival website.
