Quarantine requirements for travelers to Qatar will continue through the end of the year, a local news outlet reported on Tuesday.
“For all arrivals — including nationals, residents and visa holders — quarantine requirements are now extended for all arrival dates up to 31 December 2020,” reported The Peninsula daily newspaper, citing the government’s Discover Qatar website, which is used to make quarantine hotel bookings.
Under the current travel guidelines, entry to Qatar is allowed only for Qatari nationals and their spouses and children, permanent residents and certain travelers with pre-approved entry permits.
Those arriving from a list of countries deemed “low risk” must take a coronavirus test upon landing at the airport and sign a pledge that they will quarantine at home for seven days. After the quarantine period ends, travelers will be required to take a second test, which, if positive, will require they be isolated.
The 40 countries on the current low-risk list include China, Turkey and much of Europe. Doha-based Qatar Airways is now offering more than 650 weekly flights to over 90 destinations worldwide.
