Everyone knows that inequality in Israel is among the highest in the world: It was eighth highest in the OECD in 2022 and fifth highest in 2023, according to the National Insurance Institute. This is the case even when taking into account the government’s attempts to reduce differentials through transfer payments (subsidies and progressive taxes).
